Voltaire,the French satirist and author observed that"The art of government consists of taking as much money as possible from one class of the citizens to give to the other"(1694-1778) and so it seems to be true today in America.I have observed in my long life,that little ever changes when it involves men,and government.It would appear that we,as good citizens of the greatest nation ever created on this planet have learned little from the history of both!
This past week,we watched as our elected officials "conducted" business on the National Health Care bill in the House of Representitives with great interest.As this " excersize of ego's" progressed,it was clear to anyone who has studied politics lately,that the "fix was in",and the people's choice was thrown aside in favor of power to the few! This measure only passed by a few votes,but in Washington a win is a win anyway you can get it.Once again, "We the people" were "Hosed" without being kissed,and "The Hosier's" as usual cheered,shook hands,and sang praises to their "Queen Nancy" for doing "gods work" on behalf of the people.It was truly a sight to behold,and as I sat in amazement,words from my father came to mind"those who act out of virtue will not be popular,and those who act for popularity will acquire neither",and so it was this night.
All citizens of this great Republic,no matter what party,color,gender,or denomination have only ONE choice facing them at this time in history,and that choice whether they want to be free,or not! It is that simple,and that complex all together,and in this humble writers opinion,the luxury of time is not on their side.There are forces upon every one of us who call ourselves American,who would take our freedoms away by any means they deem necessary and just in their eyes.These powers would kill our Republic "for the greater good of everyone"and attempt to convince us that they know what is best. I can assure everyone who reads my words that their song is not the "Songs of Solomon" and has been sung by tyrants in every civilizition ever recorded.Again,Voltaire observed"It is dangerous to be right when the government is wrong",as is the case now in our country!For the citizens of America to challenge their elected leaders on policies concerning big government control over every aspect of their existence is to incure governments wrath,as did "Joe the Plumber",Sara Palin,Glenn Beck,Bill O'Reilly,and the list goes on as this issue drags on.
What this government is attempting to put into place by laws that all of them haven't read to this day is nothing short of insanity in its purest form,and should be rejected by all who desire their rights,and freedom as much as their next breath of fresh air! Again Voltaire had this situation nailed when he said"Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities."This so-called health care bill,the upcoming cap and trade bill,and the climate control bill are such absurdities,and will by their very content and design launch this great Republic and its people into a downward spiral that may not be reversable for generations to come.The cost of these policies,if inacted,would far overshadow the proposed benefits by "light years".All of this is nothing but government taking control of the American people's free choice to live as they desire.
As all Americans struggle with the many problems facing them,with all the uncertainty around every turn,they need only to remember all the blood,sweat,and lives sacrificed for our freedoms,and liberty.For now,we have the right to choose our future and our childrens fate through our votes.We as a people,or a nation should never freely give these rights up without the"Mother of all fights".
In closing,allow this old man an observation of his own,"True insanity is when a nation of 300 million people allow less than 600 "misfits" to take away their freedoms.A people are free when they decide to be free."God bless,and protect our Republic"
